Fabio Roncato was born in Rimini in 1982 and lives between the provinces of Padua and Milan
He attended the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan where he received a degree in Painting. During his post-university training he attended several residencies including the Atelier Bevilacqua la Masa in Venice, VIR - Via Farini in Residence in Milan and the Jan Van Eyck Academie in Maastricht. His work has been presented in various institutions in Europe and Italy, currently his research focuses on the relationship between imagination and knowledge, in particular on the forms and behavior of sculpture developed within a reference system halfway between representation and unknown.
Momentum is born as an investigation on the representation and the experience of the moment.
The work is divided into a series of sculptures created by the contact between two immiscible liquid elements, the fused raw wax and the river's water course. During the short duration of this reaction the two materials struggle to gain space. The sculpture that emerges is a form still in tension, a cast of the river that preserves the dynamic forms of that struggle.
The objective of this work is a sculptural reflection on the unrepeatability of the instant, on the representation of singularity, a process that becomes indestructible by turning into metal.
